As i mentioned earlier the game is not changed a lot, so basically many of the old strategies still work. Easiest way to get easy points is to steal the ball from the other team. There are two main strategies dedicated to doing that.
The first one is the following. You have scored a basket, made an offensive foul or turned over the ball. So the other team has a inboud play. And this is a very important part of building quickly a high score. To execute this strategy you need to have very athletic point guard. Most of the way before the inboud play is started you are automatically switched to your point guard. He needs to have good speed and quickness rating for example something around 80 for both ratings. Try to move your close to the back of the player of the other team that is supposed to receive the inbound pass. As soon as the passer seems to move press Sprint left(or right depends on your PG position) plus forward(or back depends on your PG position) and in that moment press the opposite comand. I dont know if this is very clear how it happens but i will tell you an example. So you are close behind the player that i supposed to receive the inbound pass. The player behind the line throws the ball and you press forwad plus left that way you move in front of the player in and the ball hits your body (your PG i mean) and it goes the other way so thats why you have to press the other position so your player catches the ball. It is quite simple. You have to try it. Expirement with it and you will get very familiar with it very quickly. I have managed to get 27 steal with jordan farmar. A player with better awarenesses is more suitable for doing that also.
The other strategy is also very simple. It is executed in your paint area the most. You can have it executed anywhere on the floor. The idea here is to get everyone of your team moving. That way a pass may hit anyone of your team in his body, interupt the pass and run a qucik attack. To get that done play more double team. Quick plays on defense speed the game up and confuse the PC/player is it possible to make many mistakes. Low passes are mostly stolen playing up tempo D.

TIP # 3 by me
ALWAYS PUMP FAKE three times then dunk or shoot. ( let go of the directional controls or it will be an awkward shot)

personally i like to do this with Yao. go near the free throw area and pumpfake and SWOOSH.
TIP# 4 by me
PLAYING ONLINE? if you like to get high ratings and ranking , then have a read...
dont play those players with high disconnection rates or PINGS less than 100 ms unless yours is the same.
example : if your ping is 120ms and your opponent is 56ms ... if the game shuts ( whether your opponent disconnects his modem, you lose your tokens and ratings)
always make it a point to close other programs when playing online.... if something pops up and minimizes your game... you loose.
check your defrag and update schedules.... they might come up when your on a 42 game win streak...
to get high ratings just avoid loosing. every game you finish earns you tokens win or loose.
TIP # 5
ALWAYS BE A CHAMP
always help newbies and be nice online ... avoid thrash talk (it may be featured in the future game, who knows?... until then NO Thrash talkin) since it is the most common cause of account suspensions.

play real. download roster updates
I RECOMMEND ROSTER UPDATES BUT NOT PATCHES
since if you download a patch your the only one seeing it.... your opponent will just get vague images and the game sometimes doest load.
ive made a roster update on nba live series just google CURRENT ROSTER UPDATE NBA LIVE 2008 payaso25us. (love your own LOL)
That roster update adds the latest transactions through April 18th, 2008. Please note that it does not include any created players. Copy these files to the origdb folder if you want to use them for online play. Shoe patch included any player any shoe.

DEFENSE WINS GAMES
DEFENSE-- always get the CENTER player as your player and stand in the middle of the paint and raise your hands up R3?, but mind the 3 second violation and get out and in the area and follow the man your guarding, just wait for your opponent to drive its an Automatic block.
keep the DOUBLE TEAM button within range and press it all the time while you are the center. the double team limits your opponents accuracy and increases your chance of a steal. it only doesnt work when the opponent on offense is backing down. so backoff and switch to zone defense.
TIP # 8
a bit of MAGIC
There is a mysterious spot near center court near the bottom sideline in any court in the game. choose a player like paul pierce or mcgrady. get them to the area between the center court and the three point area near the bottom sideline, shoot a three and just let the player HANG a bit and if you do it just right a BANK SHOT WILL GO IN! ALL THE TIME if you mastered it. someone did it to me online he shot like 40 threes its all he did the whole game.then i tried it... it works...
TIP # 9
TIME OUTS COUNT
lets say your playing a regular game, always take 3 (yes THREE)
timeouts at the end of the third quarter specially in the last seconds so that by the time youre in the fourth quarter ALL PLAYERS are ENERGIZED. can GUARD and can SCORE.
you have 6 timeouts in the game. if you do not use it in 1, 2 , and 3rd quarter you will automatically have 3 timeouts left. so use it.
dont use timeouts if when your team is on a momentum and youre confident enough your players will last the game.
